take higher level #4 -My Note in Executive Board Application Booklet 2010-2011

If you want to know how do I write my note in the application booklet, here it is..

Hi AIESEC!
How do you feel? (Excellent lah ya~)
Hmm.. I smell a very big enthusiasm and spirit in here.
Of course lah~ I know that you really want to have a life changing experience with its opportunities just like Citra, Dea, Ritza, and me.. hohohoho :D

Well, firstly I want to congratulate you for taking this decision.
Believe me, that your decision now is really super worth it!
Even you just apply for the position, you will learn a lot!
OMG! I do really proud of you for taking the decision! You’re so membanggakan!! ☺

I know that taking this decision is not such an easy thing.
I know that you need to align it with your personal life, your study life and your young life.
I know that you need to convince your parents, family, friends, and your special one (fufufufufu :D ).
I know that you have questioned yourself such “is it the right thing for me?”, “can I bear the consequences?” and “will everybody ok with my decision?”
Do you feel those things? (it’s ok kok to say yes! hehe)

Every time people questioning me about why I do take this responsibility, I do always remember what Stanislas Callens, the founding father of AIESEC, did say “Let us not concern ourselves with the opinions of our peers. Only the future and the past may judge our actions. Only big people and big actions challenge the time.”

Yes, it is true. When I started my AIESEC experience, most of my peers laughed at me and saw me as I’m kind of stupid for my willingness in doing those AIESEC stuffs. Only time may judge our actions. AIESEC has brought me to a great network of contacts that develop my competencies. Even I haven’t graduated yet, I have lot of work opportunities and not for my peers. Now, they see AIESEC differently than 2 years ago. Well, I’m just one little piece of AIESECers around the world. There are more than 6,000 greater stories out there, be an EB and you’ll get stories of your own.

Life is not easy, Life is not difficult, Life is a challenge.
There will be lot of thing that you will face up.
But there will be a lot of thing that you will gain as well.
The more you take responsibility in your life, the more you will learn.
The more you learn, the more you will get.

Get out from your comfort zone and you will see how developed you are.

P.S Please feel free to contact Citra, Dea, Ritza, and me for more discussion.

Behalf of The Diamond,
Widy Dinarti

well?
how was it?
I think it's so random, but somehow it's so me

Take a higher level #2

Dears,

maybe not all of you has already acknowledged that I took decision for applying President of AIESEC in Indonesia 2010-2011 :)

that was a super moment in my life..

yes, I was not elected at that time..

but I gain lot of learning and personal development after it..

something that I realized during my contemplation after not getting elected is I haven't had big competency in managing my life in balance between my professional and personal life..

honestly, when one day before I left my city to go to the National Election Meeting is my last time I met and talked with my grandmother. She was dying at that time. Then she said that she miss me a lot. Unfortunately I (chosed) can't stay longer at that time, and go for the National Election Meeting the day after. Honestly, I feel kind of lost (maybe it because of my guilty feeling) during my trip to Padang. And, when I wake up in the morning of my election day, I've got message from my father that my grandmother met her time.

Yes, I'm not that professional person who can balance my life.

But, I do gratefull with the plenary decision.

I believe that it is the best for me.

Thank you AIESEC in Indonesia for giving me the chance :)

*chair (Geralynn Wong), secretary (Eka UA), President AIESEC in Indonesia 0910 (Jennilie Orlanda Ng), President AIESEC in UI (Shirin Zahro), Vice President of Talent Management AIESEC in UI (Ruhum Hasibuan)

*honestly, this is the nightmare ever! haha! I need to analyze AIESEC in Indonesia (including the 6 Local Committees) statistic data

*external session: panel discussion with President current (Jennilie) and Chair of Supervisory Group AIESEC in Indonesia (Mas Tommy)
and honestly my hardest question is: "Who is Widy?"

*and yes, this is me, during the questions and answer session about goal and strategy for AIESEC in Indonesia 2010-2011

*this is how the way we announce the result of election or selection for AIESEC leaders in Indonesia :)

THANK YOU AIESEC INDONESIA!!!! :)

“Twenty years from now you will be more disappointed by the things that you didn’t do than by the ones you did do. So throw off the bowlines. Sail away from the harbor. Catch the trade winds in your sails. Explore. Dream. Discover.”

I have decided to take higher level in my way of explore and develop my leadership potential

National Entrepreneurship Forum #1

Today is the second day of our opening event National Entrepreneurship Forum in Local Committee Surabaya.
We held this event by partnering with Suara Surabaya FM.

and in this day, the OC give me such a great opportunity for being the moderator of one session

the session is talking about entrepreneurship skill, specifically is about social entrepreneur and about how to lead our business with our heart

The speaker of this session is Mr. Freddy H. Istanto (Dean of Technology & Design Faculty Universitas Ciputra) and Mas Dedy Arunu (Director of Danumas Motor, YAMAHA motor dealer).

well, honestly speaking, I did lot of contemplation during the session as well as got lot of learning.

about Social Entrepreneur
Mr. Freddy describe the characteristic of entrepreneur,a person who is:
1. opportunity creator
2. innovator
3. calculated risk taker

So, entrepreneurship is not only something that has relation with selling something or has our own business. Mr. Freddy describe that we have 4 entrepreneurship, they are:
1. business entrepreneurship,
2. government entrepreneurship (e.g. Mrs. Tri Risma Harini, Head of Planology Department Surabaya)
3. academic entrepreneurship (e.g. Yohannes Surya)
4. social entrepreneurship (e.g. Muhammad Yunus with Grameen Bank)

More about social entrepreneurship, Mr. Freddy told us about his innitiative for giving award for people who has contribution in Surabaya heritage, totally he has already given nearly 100 award. For me it really a big number. I just so amazed about his bravery to run this innitiative.

Then he gave us tips about how the deal with entrepreneurship:

Expand your network
.we need to give our name not only to certain people but to every people who is impress us
.we need to maintain our relationship with people (e.g. say happy bday to our friends in facebook)

Getting closer with celebrity
.take picture with them
.use their network

Getting famous
.do everything that make you famous until we can say that you get cursed to be always covered by media

Be Creative & dramatic
.do something creatively and dramatically

about leading business with our heart
Mas -the way Javanese people call older brother- Dedy told us about his experience in leading his team with heart. He experienced to take his team perfomance from selling 30s unit motor to 100s unit motor only in 12 months. Actually he's an artist, graduated from architecture department, he moved into furniture business then last at automotive business.

Here are some ideas that he share to us about leading with our heart:

.He creates the working culture of his office just like a second home for his employee (e.g. there are lot of coffe makers, there is playstation area). Then it works! His employee can spend their life in the office until 11 PM!!

.He knows every employee passion and potential then he use it to manage his employee

.He does personal approach to his market, "from coffe talk until business talk"

.Sometimes, he also does the frontliner task

.He always attend all his company event, even the small event

Then he shared to us about this wisdom words,

when is our important time?
who is our important people?
what are our important business?

the answer of all those questions is: Present is our important time, People whom with spend time with is our important people, and what are we doing right now is the most important thing to do.
So, we need to enjoy every process, every second that we spend in our life

well.. today is super reflection...

about finance thingy and me...

well, it starts from karma.
I do really feel that karma does exist
and I think now I got a curse...

I used to be a person who definitely don't like accounting or finance or anything sounds so.
I used to ignore everything about accounting and finance.
I used to doubt the benefit of being in the accounting or finance department.
I used to ponder and questions people who want to involve in those area.

don't they feel kinda boring there?
isn't it dizzy looking at tiny and small numbers in a swallow and narrow table?
is their eyes okay with that?

until...

suddenly the curse come to me...

the decision in discussion between AIESEC Indonesia National Team and AIESEC Surabaya in May 2009 National Planning Meeting is the one who take the responsibility of AIESEC Surabaya finance department is ME!!

super genius idea!

a person like me? hold that department

it's really super great! =_=

my last calculation experience was when I was sitting in national examination for entering university
my last experience with accounting and finance was when I run my business plan for Junior Achievement competition in my city..
which is it's already 4 years back!

jang jang jang jang...

well,
then I asked my AIESEC Indonesia Vice President of Finance (Harmein Armia a.k.a Andra) come to Surabaya in order to train all my members including me about finance (well, at least the budgeting stuff)

then,
I start to love this area!
and honestly to say, I feel kinda regret why do I choose political study, why not accounting or finance?

I found that only by expertise in this area, and just look and the balance sheet and the financial report which is only 5 (or 4>) financial statement, you will know all the things going in the whole organization!!!

and just by do a small things or twisted some small part in this area, you can gain lot of revenue for sure! :D that's the most interesting part! :D

well, now it has already 8 months I'm running finance department
I haven't done my semester review
I haven't done my accrual basis system training (for my self)
I still have a little doubt about getting new projector for my organization as my term legacy
I can't full subsidized my member to go to international conference (which is my biggest dream of this department)

and a lot of stuff should be done in this 4 month...

but honestly, I thanks to everybody who help me a lot in this department especially
my accountant Milla, (actually, is it me of her, the one who being the VP Finance in my LC? hehehe)
AIESEC Indonesia Finance Fort Team (Andra MC, Nadya NST, Laura UA, Wisnu UI, Maria Bandung, Eka UD, and Nila UB)

AIESEC Surabaya got 200% growth in its bank account, we multiplied our revenue comparing last year
We've done a lot!
and I do really proud of my AIESEC Surabaya members for the support!

Love you guys,
Widy
